Cheney made absolutely clear that we would see an easing in prices shortly after Memorial Day, even as this was going on.

Care to back up your claim? My recollection is that Cheney described this as a long term problem, the solution to which was to build more refineries (tm "no new refineries have been built in 10 years) and was not conservation. He was ridiculed and chided for the latter comment as I am sure you recall. The duo has been backpedaling ever since.

Before you go accusing Bush/Cheney of "campaign paybacks" (an allegation for which there isn't a shred of evidence),....

I think that about summarizes my view, too. After eight years of letting our country be run by the rest of the world, I think it is great to see us take a stand and tell the rest of the world, "Hey, this is what we're going to do. You can like it or lump it." It was time we had leadership that was representing OUR interests for a change.

The idiot king did not get the most votes and therefore does not represent the views of this country. In fact, the 178 countries and Seattle do.

Long live the king and his supreme court.
