Prior to the creation of the Fed, the worst bank panic caused 2.8% of the banks to fail in 1873. Following the creation of the Fed, almost 50% of the banks failed during the 30's.

OK, so the Federal Reserve CB experiment was not 100% effective -g-

The TV news here talking very much about recession and Greenspan. Also watched an interesting program about coin minting. Said one of the reasons the USA became a great nation was they (all the individual states) started using the same currency in the 1790's. Not sure if the euro will have the same effect. I think I am going to buy some of those Canadian 1 oz gold Maple leaves with the hologram stamped on it...cool.
