I didn't mean to imply that we were near the end of this bear market. I'm only looking
to see if there is a tradable bottom. The last interim bottom did come at a VIX of around
40, indeed. On the other hand, bear market bottoms tend to end with a whimper,
not a bang. If indeed there is real capitulation by the investor, it is likely that volatility will generally decline
and the actual level of the VIX may not be indicative of a bottom.
