Could be.

We were Roman Catholic.....big surprise there. So Friday we had to avoid meat.

Well, that was no big loss. We had an old GE refrigerator with the icebox thing in the top and a tray below it. No freezers then.

So she would put a piece of minute steak in the tray until it turned blue, then cook it until it turned black.

Friday we had to eat fish. Well, I do not recall what it was but I backed out of her fish dinners at an early age.

So we went Italian on Fridays. I think I was 23 years old before someone convinced me that going to an Italian restaurant did not mean that I had to eat macaroni and cheese.

I kid you not.

I married an Italian and gained at least twenty pounds eating spinach and stuff even though we were strapped for money those early years. Imagine gaining weight eating spinach? .....well, I did. Spinach Provencale was the big dish as I recall. I must have had that six times a week and I still prefer it to macaroni and cheese.

Funny though. Unlike most Micks I cannot handle that sweet stuff. Anything from bisquits to Ring-Dings turn my stomach. Have no idea why; you would think that would be the culture but I cannot handle that stuff.

I'm not sure the BlueCelt was telling the absolute truth about his food consumption ....

the day that I took him to the race track at LoneStarPark in Dallas .... *(now of course, I was picking up the tab) ....
he ate like a lumberjack ....

thank heavens they had a buffet because it would've been necessary for me to use TWO credit cards to pay the bill if it had come from a menu ....

and drat it ... he IS telling the truth bout the weight ...
he doesn't have much ....
whereas I ... poor fat wretch that I am .... smelling food seems to put on more weight on my already too ample frame ....

got those tomato plants ready ?
