Ken, thanks for the article. In spite of what the article implies, I'll take a government IOU any time over many "real" assets. Especially government SS IOUs, which are backed by an army of retirees and near retirees, most of whom vote. "Real" assets have a nasty habit of depreciating, sometimes suddenly and precipitously. I suspect that in an economic environment where the government's ability to pay pensions is questionable, very few "real" assets will have much value.
