"U.S. investor optimism hits four-year low--poll" is the title of this story. I think yesterday I read about a 5 year low..might be basically the same story.

There just seem to be too many polls and they keep coming to different conclusions. I guess it really means one has to look at the source of the information--newsletter writers, individual investors....
There used to be one out weekly on individual investors' sentiment but I can't seem to find that one (forgot the name) as it may be the most reliable if one is interested in what the average investor is feeling on a weekly basis.

My feeling is the individual investor polls may be more important than newsletter writers (JMHO). Times seem to have changed ie. high degree of stock market participation plus the access to research over the internet. Maybe a mutual fund or hedge fund survey would be better--I doubt one can get set up. Hedge fund survey may be ideal.
