he also insinuated that
our society was heading down the slippery-slope
with these wicked tendencies to allow the poor helpless
elderly people to be put to their
deaths prematurely <gg>

I didn't mention the elderly even once in my post, nor was I even thinking of them when I posted it. However now that you bring it up I do see some reason for concern that our concern for human life is headed down a slippery slope.

Society has a far greater need of helping
so many "living" children who are in desperate
need of parents and teachers , and a
safe livable envirionment.

Respecting the needs, desires, and rights of one group does not mean you cannot respect them when dealing with another group.

One could embrace some of the rhetoric , if it weren't
for the pious ,religious melodrama
and grandstanding.

I have posted here a number of times, particuarly in my arguments with Solon that my opposition to abortion is not based on religion. As for your assertion that you could embrace some of this if it wasn't for the grandstanding. 1 - You have yet to logically back up you attack claiming that your opponents arguments are just grandstanding. 2 - Even if the prime motivation of the person making an argument is to try and impress others that doesn't mean the argument is illogical or illegitimate. 3 - I can't think of a single case where I was grandstanding here. 4 - I doubt if I made my arguments in the most humble and simple terms that it would even slightly change your reaction to them.
