Hi, Frank - Awesome. The thing that people are saying can't be done is being done, right under everyone's nose - albeit in a different, but entirely acceptable way.

Out of interest, I am downloading a DivX movie, as I write this, at speeds varying between 150 and 180Kbps, using @home. And this on my "slow" computer.

I could see where netizens could conceivably accumulate a week's video, while simultaneously cleaning up their word processing, posting, and email.

Or as you say, go to the corner store, jaw for a while, maybe wash the car, and come back to your movie. My new video card, with video out, is gonna get broken in pretty quick.

It may not be VOD, but it's close enough. And of course, when DVD RW becomes common, libraries will accumulate, and local distribution, independent of the 'net, will proceed.

Fascinating: as are, of course, the implications and questions associated with the practice.

Equally interesting is the disconnect between the experts and the "experts" ;- )

Best regards,

Jim
