Centura Health Selects Citrix XPS, MetaFrame XP and NFuse Software to Provide Access to Applications and Information for its Physicians and Staff
Colorado-Based Healthcare System Employs Citrix Software for Enterprise Portal to Enhance Delivery of Care and Reduce IT Costs
biz.yahoo.com
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2001-- Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), a global leader in application serving and portal software and services, today announced that Centura Health, Colorado's largest healthcare system, is creating an enterprise portal based on Citrix® XPS(TM) portal software, MetaFrame XP(TM) application serving software and NFuse(TM) application portal software. The portal is designed to allow Centura Health to reduce IT support and administration costs, and enhance the delivery of care by providing secure browser-based access to information resources for 13,000 physicians and staff, within a 12-month rollout period.

According to Elaine Callas, Centura Health's chief information officer, the portal will give physicians immediate and secure remote access to patient information. In addition to its physicians, the portal also will benefit Centura associates, giving them remote access from home or any other location with an Internet connection.

``In the healthcare industry, it is critical to be able to securely access the information you need, when you need it, no matter where you are,'' said Callas. ``By implementing Citrix XPS and MetaFrame software, our portal will be able to provide our physicians and staff with the fastest and most efficient way to access information and applications that will help them best serve our patients, residents and their families.''

Physicians using the portal gain secure access to network resources, such as lab results, coding, drug interaction software and, in the near future, order entry capabilities, streamlining processes and enhancing the delivery of care. For example, a clinical messaging system will provide over 4,000 physicians with encrypted patient information from any browser, replacing the current fax-based process.

``Centura Health's adoption of Citrix's application serving and portal software products reflects our strategy of providing customers with a suite of products and services that lets them carry forward the applications and content they have today, while they take advantage of all the great things coming from Web computing,'' said David Jones, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development for Citrix.

Citrix XPS portal software gives users a single, personalized and secure point of access to the applications, information and business processes they depend on to do their jobs and interact with peers within and beyond the enterprise, whether they are customers, suppliers or partners. For IT administrators, XPS provides command and control over these resources through a central management interface.

By implementing XPS, MetaFrame application serving and NFuse application portal products, Centura is able to securely deploy all of its business-critical applications -- whether Web, Windows® or UNIX® -- to any number of users across its organization, regardless of the client device being used.

Anybody still here? I learned of the name CTXS just a few days ago, from a bridge buddy of mine. Today, while I was enjoying the gain from my short sale of WMT, I saw this huge volume with price run up. As the market indexes turned around this afternoon, I had to cover my Wal Mart short in a hurry and jumped long into CTXS only after I had 10 minutes to study its fundamentals - still know very little about it.

It perfromed excellently well during the down period this year (traded in a channel without breeching the April low's), and today's action certainly says a lot of people believe in their potential.

I have been undetermined about the direction of the market in recent days and wonder who would be the leaders if the market turn bullish. I now wonder if CTXS will be the new leader to lead the market up.

Any exchange of thoughts here would be great.
