I know this may come as a surprise to you but we are in more danger of going into a recession

I know this may come as a surprise to you, but business cycles happen. And there isn't a thing to be done about it.

What book are you reading from that tells you business cycles must happen? And where doe it tell you that nothing can be do about it? Tell Clinton and Greenspan that and they would laugh in your face.......if they held your views, we would never have had a ten year expansion...simply because expansions were never expected to last that long and had not since WW II.

There are things that can be done but apparently they are beyond our current president's ability to orchestrate.

Your remark reflects your shallowness. What, exactly, would be the point of this "meeting" with the EU? To tell them we don't want an economic recession and they'd better do something about it or else?

Its shallow on my part to want our president to meet with the EU and its officials in order to see if they can prevent a global recession? I will not bother to answer...if that statement is shallow, I am afraid to find out what you consider deep.

Do you REALLY believe the current economic problems wouldn't have occurred under Clinton? Have you seen something Bush did that caused the downturn to deepen?

It was clear, that when the economic downturn occurred, it would be serious. After all, we had had this period of irrational exhuberance.

People who blame Bush for this mess are misplacing their blame due to a lack of understanding of basic economics.

I am not blaming Bush for the mess although he and his cohorts should be booed for griping in Nov. and Dec. that the unresolved election was causing economic stress for the country. Small people will fall back on small tactics.

What I am criticizing is the lack of effort his administration has shown in trying to contain the problem. The best he has been able to muster is a ridiculous tax cut that will essentially do little to help us now.
