Dan,

The P4 PCI problem has been relegated to errata status. I quoted one prominent semiconductor writer, and there are others if you search for it. The AMD problem is being talked about as a test escape problem, but it sounds like a marginal design to me. The AMD JPEG/MPEG problem is quoted now as a fraction of a percent, which is a lot of chips.

Story in German:

heise.de

Babel Fish translation:

world.altavista.com

Altogether " even is times a hand fully processors " incorrectly, fewer than the fraction of a per cent, said Guetter. Who has an incorrect processor, can turn to the AMD Hotline ( 0 89/4 50-5 31 99) and the processor conversions.

Dan, <the fact that ALL P4s have problems with PCI cards that aren't bus masters>

Bullcrap. The 850 chipset errata only had to do with PCI graphics cards, not all non-master PCI cards like you claim.

<Remember that, for the first several years of PCI design, very few PCI cards were bus masters.>

It impresses me that you point this out to support your original bogus claim. Had I not known any better, I would have mistaken you for a trustworthy expert in this field.
