herb, LOL, "Certainly Jerry knew in April that Q2 was in the dumper. Why was he so quiet?"
The vast majority of tech companies warned in May and June. Did they all know the same thing in April? Many more tech companies didn't even bother warning. Jerry was bitten by his eternal optimism to think that he could pull a rabbit out of the hat at the end of Q2, otherwise he would have warned a week earlier. Maybe AMD would be trading at 20 instead of "16 and change" if he had warned. Very poor choice IMO. But, to claim a conspiracy here, you have to claim the same thing for 100's of other tech companies, the majority of which did 10% worse, not 4% worse, compared to their May guidance.

Intel, in the same situation had more rabbits. That's the only difference. The rabbit they pulled out their hat to make it appear that they weren't losing market share is called X-Box.

Now we are in the situation where AMD has 2.5% of the market cap of Intel and 33% of the market share of Intel (for microprocessors). And if would value AMD's 25% "other" business (flash) at lot higher than Intel's mega-billion loser "other" businesses.

Herb - Re: "I still can’t figure out why you and the rest of the AMD zealots are not crying over your recent woes with your AMD investment. AMD stock price just fell 50% this month. Jerry waited to warn only a week before the scheduled earning announcement. My word, why bother! Was that because Jerry sold in May some 12M in stock with a cost basis of $7.38? Was it because on May 7, 2001 AMD converted some $517,500 of convertible debt to common which required that in order to conclude the conversion that the last reported sale price for the Common Stock be at least 130% of the then effective conversion price for at least 20 trading days within a period of 30 (130% x $18.50 = $24.05)? Certainly Jerry knew in April that Q2 was in the dumper. Why was he so quiet? Yet AMD suckers never utter a peep."

OUTSTANDING argument.

The AMDroids would. rather WHINE ON AND ON about Intel rather than face the fact that AMD is in the toilet - about to be flushed - and Mad Man Sanders just walked away with another fortune - courtesy of the AMD shareholders who bought his stock in the $high $20s and low $30s !!

re: Yet AMD suckers never utter a peep.
what is the matter? can not read?
there was a lot of complaints posted here about Jerry not warning as he should. Now it is time to move on....
OTOH the Intel worshipers, like yourself, do prefer to concentrate on anything negative in amd stock rather than concentrating on the relative value. Could it be because if you start digging into intel's recent decisions you might conclude that the company is still run by Paul's that is completely insane people.
