Here's a nice little write-up on ONIS from yesterday's Story Stocks...(Briefing thinks you're smart for liking it!)

ONI Systems (ONIS)22.00 -0.54: You know market conditions stink when a company delivers the goods come earnings time and still gets taken out and shot... Such is the fate suffered by ONI Systems today... In an extremely difficult business environment, ONIS managed to:

meet consensus earnings number in posting a quarterly loss of $0.05, up from a loss of $0.18 in the year-ago period.
post 51% revenue growth v. prior quarter and an eye-popping 618% year/year jump.
guide evenues higher for quarters three and four.
increase gross margins by 11.3% year/year and 0.4% sequentially.
add three new major customers in the quarter, and guide total year-end customer number up to 32-34 from 28-30.
reaffirm that it expects to break-even by Q4.
Now that's execution! What makes it so much more amazing is that company achieved these numbers during one of the ugliest climates the optical/telecom equipment market has ever seen... So how does the market reward such a performance? By sending the stock sharply lower in early trading... Proving that at least some folks out there are paying attention, stock has clawed its way back toward unchanged territory... While it's difficult to quantify the market risk, operationally there is nothing wrong with ONIS... Consequently, once the market tone improves, stock should win favor...
