The fact is that govt. revenues increased dramatically, but Reagan increased spending on defense and the dems increased spending for domestic programs. The result was even more money was spent than the additional revenue generated and the deficit ballooned.

Just like the Republicans give no credit to Clinton for the greatest economic boom in US, I give no credit to Reagan for bringing down the soviets. There are documents dated in 1982 that suggested the Soviets were on the verge of economic collapse, so it was a great waste of money for the defense buildup all it did was create debt. Thus the Soviets were going down if Mickey Mouse were president. The peace dividend would have happened without Reagan. His true legacy is leaving the US a debt laden nation.

I am however encouraged by the Rumsfelds admittance that the DOD has greats amounts of pork and fat and maybe needs to have the budget trimmed.

As for calling names, I didn't start that, there are those here who no desire to listen to reason. When I first got involved it was a daily dose of looking into Bill Clinton's underwear disregarding and discrediting the great benefits of his administration to the US and the world.
