Yes and no......Ntap basically covers Nas and emc sans....emc has always been the big boy on the block......ntap and nas, a cheaper and better version??? Anyway, both have entered the others market, as well as ther companies also...but I would think no matter what, there will always be a need for storage. Even if the economy goes to hell in a hand basket, I would hope and assume that storage wont be immune by any means, but there still should be demand for storage products........but, what the hell do i know anyway........

How does NTAP compare to EMC?

You have much reading to do. EMC started storage on the network with SAN. Nobody until NTAP could make NAS a viable storage solution. NAS has always been known as the storage for data that gets used. EMC has dabbled in NAS filers to try to compete with NTAP. But so far they have come out with no threat in NAS. Now NTAP has come out with products over the past year that enable them to compete head to head with EMC on anything. Look at the NTAP website for explinations of their products. Especially where they talk about total center to edge end to end storage solutions.
