Here's a weird and wild thought. What if T was not negociating a merger with AOL right now. Very unlikely it would pass the anti-trust anyway, but they were going to Case to say......listen, you take this albatross of Excite and other worthless media properties off ATHM's hands for X dollars and we'll give you most favored nation status for open access on our systems. This would be the deal worth going for because it would rid T Broadband and ATHM of one big liability. AOL doesn't want to run a network. UUNET/WCOM runs the one they have now....they want to sell airplane tickets and movies. AOL could actually use MatchLogic and BlueMountain and their search engines sucks, not to mention AOL.com.
