A study shows that a Mexican worker on the border, spends 70% of his paycheck in the US. How
does that help Mexico?

What did the worker make before the maquiladore job?
How much now?
I'd bet he's paid more the three times as much?

How much of his pay ended up in the US before? A lot, I suspect.

Also, they are gaining skills they would not otherwise have. Their children, because of increased wealth, will be more educated and in better health.

Quite a lot gained, I'd say.

The pollution problem? Undoubtedly bad. Undoubtedly many US companies locate there to escape US pollution laws. And at the same time it is the responsibility of the Mexican gov't to solve this problem.

HAve we really done anyone any big favors?
Is poverty, illiteracy, and early death preferable?
