Norma ...

instead of ONE plant, may I suggest TWO ...
should, on your balcony, there only be space for a single when full grown, eliminate the lesser developed of the two after a couple of weeks ...

when planting ...
lets say the plant you purchase is twelve inches tall from bottom of root ball to top of the plant ...

this sounds crazy
this sounds as if it will kill the plant

won't ..
it'll help growth and strength ...

gently bend the plant into an L shape .. gently I said .... and plant the root ball and about three inches of the plant below ground level of the pot .... leaving about four-five inches of plant sticking up ...

now, once more ...
bend the plant into an L
the root ball and about three inches are the bottom part of the L and get planted
the top of the plant is the top of the L and is exposed above ground...

you only need appx four inches of plant above the soil level and the rest beneath ...

as I said, this sounds crazy
but
it will work
and
work nicely to get fruit more quickly

ps
don't think of the weeding out of the weaker plant as "killing" it
but, rather making the best use of your space and time ....

promise, it won't hurt a bit .... ggggg

pps
that is not the truth for ME ..
it did hurt me when I had to throw some spindly little begonias into the trash yesterday from a batch I'd been saving to fill in with ..... LOL
