nice list of Fed hikes, cuts over the years
sure looks like a drunk driver to me
raise, cut, cut, raise some,
then leave it alone for some prosperity
raise, raise, cut, raise, raise
recession, oops

abolish the Fed
their twin chartered responsibilities are to encourage maximum employment and zero inflation
they have largely ignored the first edict
they focus almost entirely on the second edict

I think all the money supply acceleration in 2001 has had a strange effect
not sure about this, but seems to have:

- lowered home equity loan rate (spend more savings)
- lowered obscene credit card interest (reduced rape, little new spending)
- prop up stock market (prevent Dow 30% decline)
- indirectly lowered mortgage rates (kept housing strong)

now we all wait for shock waves, staring at each other
hoping that someone lights a match to all the tinder
so far, no ignition
