Are you serious? or is this some form of deep joke?

Currently a large chunk of carbon and hydrogen is stored in the form of fossil fuels in large molecules and underground.

Burning fossil fuels (a) makes the long molecules into CO2 by combining it with air during the combustion process and (b) in the process said carbon moves from huge underground reserves to airborne gas status.
