Shrub is a Fortunate Son that adopts the cloak of a good ol' boy. He receives support from his daddy, daddy's friends and immensely-funded special interests in the business arena. This support has made Shrub rich even though his only business successes have been dry oil wells and some time as a meet and greet guy for a baseball team. The current role for Shrub provides a marketing symbol for political office, much like the Marlboro Man. He is quite happy to serve that role for 4 years and retire to the ample rewards from his sponsors -- the special interests -- who will shower him with money for the wonderful long-term return received on their small political investment. An unfortunate consequence for Shrub is that he will produce a cancer from the association with his sponsor as did the Marlboro Man, a smoker who died of lung cancer. Unfortunately, it will be the American people that will suffer the ravages of Shrub's cancer. The Fortunate Son will prosper during his life in early retirement.
