My refund is the penultimate payout (as opposed to some of you lucky dogs that are at least tertiary) so I couldn't wait to pull the trigger on new tech. Plus as a selfish single I only get back 3 bones which is a long way from the $1,400 (Camera is 1k but ya *gotta* get the extras like longer battery, extra digital tapes, etc.)... I'll apply the refund towards something manageable, like a night out in Chicago ;-)

Shopping sans sales tax

Bargain hunters get ready: 7 states and D.C. forego tax on clothing, PCs

Beginning at the end of July, seven states and the District of Columbia won't collect sales tax on specific items, ranging from clothing to school supplies to personal computers. These so-called tax-free holidays run from two to 10 days and, in most cases, local jurisdictions also will forego sales-tax collection.

...Most states are at least exploring tax holiday benefits and costs.
