One of the problems with the concept of "diversity" whatever the hell that really means, is that it flies in the face of what has worked in America for the first couple of hundred years. The tools for destroying diversity (which I think is clearly a good thing) are public schools and American English as well as stuff like Scouting, sports leagues, popular music and the like. Homogenization of cultures and genetic blending over the history of this country are a major part of the basis that sets this country apart from the rest of the world.

In country after country from the Americas to Asia, and Europe to Africa there are tribal and cultural identities and hatreds that are fostered, preserved and revered. Just look at the mess that we euphemistically call the Holy City. Whole lotta diversity over there. What the hell good is it?

The Cambodians hate and fear the Thai, the Thai resent the Cambodians, the Vietnamese look down upon the Lao and the Cambodians but also fear the Chinese. The Mong are Vietnamese but look down on the other Vietnamese nonetheless. The segment of the Great Wall of China which tourists visit near Peking (Beijing to the Maoists), was nothing more that a great giant killing trap. Its a four sided box, constructed in a hilly pass, designed to trap those damned invading Han's that kept coming out of the North. Unfortunately the Han eventually overran these and other defenses and became the dominant "race" of China. Writings scratched into the rock bases of the wall talk about the horrible abuses and tortures that the builders of the wall endured as it was built by defeated invading forces. Now, Chinese the world over practice the cult of diversity, trying to instill in their youth to make sure they marry only other Chinese for breeding purposes to keep the race "pure". Purity is sort of a laugh when speaking of China as it is a nation formed of many tribal races and cultures all dominated by the Han. Anyway, moving on, the Chinese hate and fear the Japanese and look down upon the Koreans, the Japanese sort of stand off and look a long ways down their noses at the Chinese, the Koreans and all the other Asian nationalities, especially the Filipinos, in fact they seem to be pretty darn racist towards just about every other nation, tribe and culture in the world. And of course there are no Tibetans according to the Chinese Communist view and the Tibetans hate and fear the modern Chinese especially the Chinese army and the relocated Chinese settlers. Of course the Tibetans used to hate and fear other Tibetans before the Chinese became a threat. The Panchan Llama in Xigase used to periodically lead his loyal followers to war against the hordes of the DaLai Llama in Lhasa (about a 4 day jaunt by foot down river, as they had to walk over two 16,000 ft passes to get close enough to act out their religious/regional bigotry), until they sort of reached a detente a few hundred years ago. The "racial" bigotry of Asia is only complimented by religious and racial intolerance in the Indian subcontinent the MiddleEast, Europe, Russia and Africa, too numerous to detail here.

In all these other nations racism and bigotry seems woven into the fabric of life. Only in America does the ideal of homogenized socialization come anywhere near to a crude reality. Diversity shouldn't be the goal or some wonderful thing to aspire to, but tolerated and only for the time being. For America to survive the next century, homogenization needs to continue. For California to avoid Balkanization, we need to blend the voices of the Spanish, Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Korean, Laotian, Cambodian, Russian, Jewish, Hungarian, Croatian, Serbian, South and Central American cultural immigrants and all the rest into one unifying language, spoken by this homogenized and blended genetically impure but oh so goodlooking non-race race of the future. Its gotta be good ol' American English cuz that's the language of this country and of the world's currency (the American dollar) and a large part of the Internet.

I've overstayed my time, I yield the soapbox.

(Any woman of color inspired to hoist her skirt in this noble blending effort will receive my immediate and everlasting admiration.<g>)

An extreme reaction to diversity is a red flag JF. As I said in my post, you can BE against diversity, you can even be a racist (and I don't know whether you are, but you sounded like one to me when you associated diversity with the crimes of a few people of color). You just can't make other people like you for it. I personally think most people who fear diversity are racist (and that most people are a lot more racist than they think they are- ALL people, not just Caucasian people). And that anyone who would post a horrible violent crime by a few individuals and then use it as some weird joke about diversity has a problem. That is a very personal reaction. It makes me very sad.

No one is going to come arrest you for your thoughts. You are annoyed because I don't like what you said and it made me think of you in a certain negative way. That has nothing to do with the thought police, or the PC "gestapo". I act on my own and on my own I found what you began with your post about the rape in your area to be repellent.
