08:32 ET Economic Data : Employment Cost Index rises 0.9% in Q2, better than 1.0% consensus. Jobless claims plunged 51K to 366K in the July 21 week vs 404K consensus; hard to make much of the extreme volatility in this series lately. Durable orders fell 2.0% in June vs -1.0% consensus. ECI and claims news will be positive for market, while weak orders indicate that manufacturing sector remains in recession. Not seeing much market reaction to these mixed indications.
