Is this a threat?

"ultimately, he's going to have to show that he's not a wholly owned subsidiary of the NRA."

Why? He agrees with the NRA position and disagrees with Bennett. Why does he HAVE TO change his opinion? What mayhem is Bennett prepared to engage in to force the change?

This week, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development scrapped a $15-million Clinton administration program to buy back guns in and around public housing projects. The buy-back program took about 20,000 guns off the streets in the first year.

Have there been any studies on this? I venture to guess that the only thing being turned in were stolen guns, and junk that has not worked in years anyway. I wonder how much drug use went up on gun sale day? The first year 20k guns, but what about after that? What sort of bureaucracy was developed just to do the sale, do record keeping, dole out the money? Why have the "news" people not asked any of these questions?

It is refreshing to have a President that understands that the US is not a European country.
