I take issue with that. When the fundamentals are bearish, a smart producer will hedge to cushion the downside for its shareholders somewhat.

You assume but can offer no proof that hedgers like ABX and PDG are in bed with the bankers. It is the movement of the USD, not the bankers, that move the producers to initiate and close hedges.
