By both sides of the border, I really am speaking of the governments. I do not blame the workers for trying to make a living, and I hope this will work out to be a great thing. I do not remember hearing of mass starvation in Mexico before the maquilas, and I don't use that as it's salvation now. These Maquilas were not started up to help out the poor, they were started to acquire a source of cheap labor, and no regulations to have to worry about.

My wage quote was probably on the high side. It ranges from .50 to 1.00 depending. Sooner or later, the maquila workers may have the upper hand, but will that settle any of the current pollution, overpopulation, or graft issues?
