If the man had been convicted of bank robbery, and his parole officer found a notebook filled with plans for robbing a bank, would you agree it was justifiable to lock him back up? I think this was more equivalent to the parole officer finding a short story about him robbing a bank, rather the concrete plans with a schedule and bank blueprints. Tim

If he was writing a pornographic book for a publisher about a man travelling all over Asia and frequenting brothels featuring 11 and 12 year old boys and girls (in countries where it is legal), should he have been arrested and locked up? And no, just because one has plans to rob a bank or blow up a building is no PROOF that the person will carry out those plans. I wrote a story once about a group of ex-Viet Nam Marines who blocked off a small town in the Midwest, killed everyone with nerve gas, and ransacked the place, getting away with a couple million. Should I have been arrested and locked up for that because I might actually decide to carry it out?
