Cingular! Dr. J indicates that he thinks Cingular
will see the writing on the wall in their TDMA services --
and the writing is 1x.

The $0.22 per share earnings includes a $0.07 loss from shifting Globalstar operations to other parts of the company. Without this one-time adjustment, profits would have looked much stronger. Skeeter, you really have to look at the details of these reports before throwing out the baby with the bath water. Among other things that escape a cursory look is the fact that QUALCOMM is probably the only telecom equipment company anywhere in the world that is DEBT FREE. In a period of slumping economic growth, low or no debt is worth a lot. The company reported some $2 billion in cash and marketable securities, or more than $2.50 per share. At a time when other companies (like Sprint, this morning) are out there raising $2 billion in the form of bonds, convertibles, new stock, etc., all of which dilutes the earnings on existing common shares, NO DEBT, repeat NO DEBT, means a lot!
