What distinguishes a human from an animal? The ability to have cognitive rational thought, and to perceive events before they occur to be able to act upon them, and to have the ability to store memory and apply it to current situations in new ways, thus employing innovation. Nope, wrong, sorry. you were create in God's image.... and God knew you in the womb.... you seem to be willing to bet that He did not know you until you had brainwaves?? And so you judge that good enough for all mankind? wrong move. that "potential" stuff you keep spouting is really beneath what you claim your education to be, terry boy.

Imagine a situation where I am temporarily in a deep coma with little brain function, and no higher brain function. If there is a solid possibility that I would completely recover in a matter of months is it ok for you to kill me? What defines our species as being different then other animals is our cognitive rational thought. Potential does enter into the equation and the potential of the fetus is important but the potential is part of what makes it an actual human, it is not a potential human being, it is an actual human being with a lot of potential but it has so far realized very little of that potential.
