Yes I understand that rationale. As another example,I don't even look at .VLMAT anymore (QCOM 03 100's), but between 7/3/2000 and 6/28/01 I bought and sold it 8 times (or sold and bought) for a total gain of $8800. A total of 12 contracts.
The reason I don't look at it is that I've become superstitious and don't think clearly about it.
Still, when I compare that to selling 1.5 front month contracts (on average), 8 of the last 12 months, or 1 contract each of the last 12 months, and having them all expire worthless, I find my approach generates less stomach acid and more cash.
In the end, whatever works for you is the way to go.
