Whether writing fiction about a crime, constitutes a crime or not is not the question for me. As you said the man has not been given a pass to fully and freely reenter society. He needs to actively demonstrate his full rehabilitation during the parole period. If he had expressed these fantacies while incarcerated, the parole board would likely have blocked his parole. The man is in a position to prove his worthiness to reenter decent society (to live among my kids and yours). He has already demonstrated his willingness to act out on criminal fantasies (unlike Terrence). Now he is tipping his toe in the same old waters. He gets a thumbs down from me.
