Isn't that the truth? When demand ramps up again, their will be shortages and price hikes again, because the manufacturers are cutting their ability to supply the market. Then companies like Cisco will have to stock up again and carry larger inventories until demand is satiated. Then the market will fall off a cliff and they'll be stuck with large inventories again. It's the classic bullwhip affect. What everyone needs to do is to tie their systems together from customer to delivery and carefully monitor every piece in the chain. That will at least help minimize the up and down cycle by providing transparency.
