THE TROUBLE WITH KNOWING

The trouble with knowing
Is that you then want to forget.
The trouble with not knowing
Is that you then want to remember,
Or recall, or realize, or
Whatever the case may be.

But roses still wilt and love becomes strained,
The sun sets everyday as sure as the fact that my parents will die
And the dialectic that allows me to comprehend this fact
Is as awful as it is beautiful.

Trust is perhaps the hardest necessity
And time's most imposing demand
But without it there is nothing worth living for.

Trees seem to blink at me in the crisp autumn air
And there's a wink in the way that everything is just there.
There's still hope in the fact that I continue to breathe
And in the yes of a heart that continues to seethe.
I shall wait for the rain and I shall wait for the snow.
I shall wait to get through all the Christmas shows.
I shall wait for January to bring all hope to an end
And I'll tolerate February's dwarfish amends.
And as March pounds down and drags me to the threshold of Easter
I'll pay homage to the fact that time is the teacher

*I'm not sure if this is one poem or two or maybe three but it all came out together. Moreover I'm not sure if this is the right title. To tell ya the truth, I'm not sure about anything about this poem.
