TLC, re:In my opinion, what is really being missed is the fact that Blodget still even works for ML. They could have fired him. It would not be the first time they have fired an analyst.

They probably aren't going to let him go for legal and contractual reasons. Who knows what they will do when his current contract ends, and, as long as the focus stays on these "conflict-of-interest" angles, ML probably feels legally confident.

Henry might think he makes sense, but I guarantee that the guy that signs his check knows what is really going on.

There is also someone who has to sign off on all of his research reports and okays the verbal comments he is likely to make in public. If ML were to find fault with Blodget, it would have to find fault with itself for approving the research. IMO, if the focus was on the research itself ML would have a much harder time defending itself.
