Those figures are misleading as they take the entire universe of wage earners as a lump sum. Of course there are more people, so the total amount of "personal" income will rise. But actual buying power has remained almost flat and if charted since 1900 (not 1913) the value of the U.S. dollar has dropped like a rock. It is difficult to see on the surface, because almost all other world currencies have also undergone extreme inflationary (devaluation) pressure.
