What you say about acting styles if pretty true, but it has not prevented older actors from working. Don Ameche, for example, had a better career later in life than he originally had. There is evidence both ways, on the political claim. On the one hand, some Hollywood conservatives have complained of ostracism, which hurts deal- making; on the other hand, prominent Hollywood conservatives like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger have a lot of clout in the industry. I find it plausible that Heston has lost some work, but wonder how much effect it has truly had on his career......
