like retail -- you have to watch for the change in rate of growth ... initially. I think Richebacher and those Comstock fellows have made this pt very well. Yes, retail sales grew last month -- but what was the growth rate compared to the same month last year? Even then you need to look at rolling averages since the numbers bounce around a bit ... Any way you slice it we are in the most rapid of slowdowns (guess we need to wait on the official sanctioning of the use of the R-word). Pity the day they use that word -- it will mean we are really in deep stuff ...
