Re: There 2 sources for AMD...

That sounds more like rapidly increasing sales momentum to me (I guess it all depends on your perspective).

Had the pipeline appeared full in late May / early June I'd have been suspicious of channel stuffing, but it didn't. In fact the opposite was true. Unfortunately, at that time AMD systems were largely sold out in many retail locations - a point gleefully observed by Intel longs and the reason why I stopped posting a weekly ad listing. Not much point when it was all Intel mid-Q2.

It looks to me like Intel may have done considerable channel stuffing in early Q2, cause the shelves weren't yet bare of Intel systems, yet a ton of systems were dumped into retail (at least, it looked that way).

After having observed the relative popularity of systems from the two companies, and finally gotten sell-through of their PC stock, retailers appear to have done some heavy ordering of systems from HP, Compaq, Micron, Everex, etc. - and they mostly ordered AMD based systems.

It isn't channel stuffing when the pipeline is empty and retailers are hungry for the goods you're selling.
