Your analysis does not consider that 1x increases capacity of existing networks by a factor of almost two. So not only will the 1x cycle generate replacement sales of high-end handsets but the capacity of existing networks will be greatly increased such that carriers can provides services to many more subscribers provided they efficiently allocate the usage of voice & data.
