Good article, Les. I especially agree with the contention that software should be written off over 18-24 months, not 5-years.

5-years is a joke. Actually, you should be able to write off software just like expenses like toilet paper. The changes were made so companies could budget better. The law did not take into account the life span of the software.

I'm sure a lot of companies that bought B2B software wish they'd have spent their money on toilet paper.

Computer hardware is another thing that should be able to be written off quicker, but that's an issue for another day.
