The number of technology pink slips handed out since the beginning of the year is approaching 200,000, according to various estimates, and the end is nowhere in sight. Just tonight I heard on the television (Eric, I wasn't watching. :) a report that the tech sector lost 300,000 jobs so far this year, 10% of them yesterday. I decided there were more appealing alternatives to television viewing (or listening), so I switched channels and immediately watched Cal Ripken blast the first pitch out of the park. --Mike Buckley
