JAKKS Pacific earnings rise 11 percent
NEW YORK, July 19 (Reuters) - Toy maker JAKKS Pacific Inc. (NasdaqNM:JAKK - news), which makes World Wrestling Federation action figures, said Thursday that second-quarter net income rose 11 percent on strong sales.

The Malibu-based company reported net income of $6.9 million, or 36 cents per share, on net sales of $70.1 million against earnings of $6.2 million, or 31 cents per share, on net sales of $50.6 million in the comparable period last year.

Five analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call had expected the company to earn between 33 and 36 cents a share, with a mean estimate of 34 cents.

JAKKS Pacific said it expects third-quarter net sales of $90 million to $100 million, and net income of $9.3 million to $11.2 million, or 48 to 58 cents a share. Analysts polled by First Call estimated earnings at 41 to 60 cents a share.

Shares of JAKKS closed at $15.15 on Wednesday on the Nasdaq.
