Thanks for the link on knots, Thomas. I once had someone show me how to tie a bowline with one hand. I did it once but never mastered it.

My favorite all time knot is a packer's knot, learned from a mule packer. It never slips, never comes untied, and you can untie it with a single pull with one hand. Unfortunately, SI has no graphics so I can't show it to you.
