You can think whatever you want, as far as I am concerned. What you are saying seems a hopeless muddle to me. I'm not sure what your point is. You want to reserve racism for really nasty bigots? I am guessing here- from what you wrote I can't be sure of your point. If that's it, I don't agree. I think its better to know it's there and examine our actions. We may all BE racist, but we don't all ACT racist. The point of my exchange with JF was calling someone on talking about diversity in the context of ONE crime committed by people of color (or people of diverse ethnicity, if you prefer- I prefer people of color, but it's simply because I am used to it).

Race, culture and society are inevitably muddled together by everyone. So when one looks at race, one is really looking at all three- I thought I made that point already when I mentioned that what some people perceive as race, is really simply socioeconomics. But perhaps I was not clear enough for you. I hope it is clear now.
