Yes, it is true that WLS is not as big a deal as it was. I hadn't known it was started by Sears.

One of my brothers likes radio more than I, and used to listen to WBZ in Boston, another 50k watt station, back when Larry King worked there, before he got on tv. When Larry had a show based in Washington, a couple of my brothers and my mother got tickets from time to time. My mother and the brother with cerebral palsy went several times, meeting guests like Marvin Hamlisch. Most stars are pretty nice, and so my brother is able to get a lot of attention. He has met Charles Durning, Rita Moreno, Pearl Bailey, Robert Urich, and a bunch of others at various things in Washington.......
