How sad that you weren't at Sonic's with us, safely sandwiched between giant pickup trucks, listening to the lullaby of country music booming from the speakers, and envying the cool boots and cowboy hats on all the guys. I bet mah Texas Toast Burger was way better than that thar calamari. Dan and I noticed a strange urge to speak with a texas drawl yesterday that grew worse as the day wore on. Heirloom tomatoes? Does that mean like- um-really old? Moldy? It sounds as if your chef is hoping to gain recognition for being "an innovative genius at melding unique, unexpected flavors, a true Van Gogh with the food palette." Gingerbreak and grape is just over the top, IMO. More like Jackson Pollack. Your plate should not look like someone melted a box of Crayolas on it. Let him paint his own palate.
