I have not heard of this guy before, but, yes, it is a refreshing change when someone calls for a dialogue and attempts to use rational arguments instead of screaming for Jews’ scalps. I may not agree with his views, but then it is to be expected - he is on the other side. There are so few of them who have renounced terrorism. A few days ago there was an article in Jerusalem Post about pro-peace statement signed by both Israeli leftists and Palestinian moderates, so some reasonable voices are beginning to be heard, but they are far in between. I’m sure that there are many Palestinians who just want to live and let live, but I guess living under a totalitarian regime, it is good for one’s health to tow the official line. But I’m afraid that after what happened over last ten months, a near-term negotiated settlement is impossible. Israelis will not offer anything close to Barak’s plan, and the Palestinians can’t accept any less. Edit: I just read the second part of Jawad's interview - I find very little there to disagree. I just wish he had a suggestion about how to get out of this dead end. Perhaps next interview...
