What kind of gets me is the deer. I've had to wait to let them cross the road often. One thing about deer, if there are 30 in the herd and #1 makes it across the road all and I mean everyone of them will cross. Then they stand there and look at you.

I've never been able to fathom the mind of a writer -- the ability to retain large amounts of overheard conversations and other observed details and to re-weave them with a creative style. I sometimes find myself in situations that I recognize as good material for a writing piece, but I have neither the recall ability nor the creative skills to do much with it. Hope you do more Texas touring. I would recommend Texas Highways magazine as a good resource, although you would likely find its writing to be mostly reportorial and not particularly exciting. Have you ever done any travel writing? It's an area that could use a bit of your upbeat, humorous viewpoint.
