Ha! Not MY home, I am a Virginian! I totally agree with you. And I was the one who told you would NOT want to go swimming in the Riverwalk.
The size of the Alamo does make you do a doubletake. In my head, from watching Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen whup up on the Mexicans in Davy Crockett, I had created this huge fortress and kept looking around thinking I was in the wrong place- like maybe in the outhouse or something. Rich kids in Dallas have playforts bigger than that.

Actually the Riverwalk is sort of pretty (and certainly cooler) when it's lit up at Christmas.

Now the red dirt! It most certainly is earth! Good Red Earth! (You are a dirt racist!) Stuff stains terribly.

You're right - the natives rarely visit the Riverwalk - usually only to take friends and relatives from out of town that feel the need to see it. San Antonio is an interesting place... but the Riverwalk is not where we live or hang out.
